Fireside chat with Simon Young, fund manager

An interview with Simon Young, fund manager of the AXA Framlington UK Equity Income fund. The fund is top decile since he started managing it 2 years ago. Simon has over 20 years experience managing UK equity funds for institutional, retail and charity clients. Simon will discuss his investment style, what he looks for in companies and will also talk about stocks that haven’t performed will in his funds and what he learnt from these companies. He will discuss avoiding losers and what todo when you make a mistake.    

Since Simon took over the AXA Framlington UK Equity Income fund 2 years ago the fund has been a top decile performer. Key stocks contributing to that performance are companies such as Games Workshop (where he has 7% of the fund), Sabre Insurance, Integrafin and AstraZeneca. He also avoided some areas of the market that have been hardest hit by COVID-19. Simon will talk about what attracted him to these stocks and also about a number of other stocks in his fund which he feels are not fully understood by the market.    Simon welcomes interaction with the audience and is happy to answer questions on any stocks
